Adware removal software

Adware is defined as any software that automatically plays advertisements, and or downloads advertisements to a computer once the software is installed or during use of an application. A number of adware packages is also considered spyware and can be privacy invasive. In many instances adware is set up on a computer inadvertently and may go undiscovered for some time if at all or become apparent immediately. Adware’s designed purpose is to place particular advertising in front of a computer user in the hopes of making a sale.

Not all adware is bad or surreptitiously installed. Some adware packages are part and parcel of applications that the user installs on their PC which may have a free version which serves up advertisements in lieu of a subscription fee. One of the most popular of these is WeatherBug which is a free weather monitor for your computer. Users of WeatherBug can stop seeing advertisements by simply paying a small annual subscription payment. Programs like this are very good for the user and the program owner. Other adware applications are not nearly as genteel. Quite a few of these applications been classified as Malware due to the approaches employed to trick people to install them on their computers and the way they operate when installed.

Many times the adware is bundled with a desirable program and is automatically installed with the program. Programs of this ilk can monitor the sites you visit and send this information back to the company that developed the software. Another tack that they use is to substitute their own ads thereby replacing legitimate ads on websites with their own.

Other adware removal programs can be seen as scareware. If you have ever seen ads claiming your PC is infected with viruses etc. and state that by purchasing their application it will keep them safe from these so called threats. Mostly this software installs itself without the users consent and the primary goal is to alarm people into paying for their product even though there is not an actual problem.
